Define the selected connector material based on the ambient humidity of use
According to the definition of automobile industry standards, the temperature levels of various parts of the automobile are divided:
-40℃ ~85℃: Passenger cabin (not recommended);
-40℃ ~100℃: Passenger cabin;
-40℃ ~125℃: next to the engine;
-40℃ ~155℃: near the engine and heating components;
-40℃ ~175℃: Negotiation between supply and demand parties.
Materials at different locations can be defined by referring to the temperature division of each location of the car according to the line label.
Please refer to Table 1 for the selection of materials for the connector sheath.
We can refer to Table 2 for the selection of materials for connector terminals.
To sum up, when designing the input, different connector types (waterproof types) and required connector materials can be defined according to different usage locations.
voltage size
Among the many classifications of connectors, if classified according to voltage, they can be divided into high-voltage connectors and low-voltage connectors. High-voltage connectors mainly refer to voltages greater than 60V but not higher than 600V, and low-voltage connectors have voltages not higher than 60V.
High-voltage connectors are more commonly used in new energy electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles. Such connectors need to withstand larger output voltages. In general mechanically powered vehicles, most of them still focus on low-voltage output.
Therefore, the voltages provided by manufacturers are generally less than 50V, and the most common voltages for wire harness connectors are 12V and 24V. Therefore, when designing the input, the specific type of connector used cannot be determined until the output voltage is determined.
